Ebony Phonics cards
Our Story

A Nod to Culture

Ebony Phonics is a greeting card brand rooted in African American language and expression — turning the culture into cards you can actually give.

How It Started

From Cookouts to Cards

As family walked through the door, the room filled with the familiar ways we greet each other.

Someone says, “Unc, that shirt you got on is dope.”

A cousin brings his new girlfriend and someone quickly asks her, “You Good, Come on with me so you can fix your plate.”

Auntie is turning 79 and everyone laughs because she still looks 39. Of course someone says, “Black don't crack.”

These everyday moments are part of our culture. The sayings. The humor. The warmth that lives in how we talk to each other.

And it made us realize something.

There wasn't a greeting card that truly spoke the way we do. Not just cards made for us, but cards that reflect the language, personality, and cultural expressions we use every day.

That's where Ebony Phonics began.

Ebony Phonics greeting cards turn those familiar sayings into something you can actually give — cards that celebrate culture, personality, and language that feels real.

What Drives Us

Our Intention

Ebony Phonics exists to celebrate the cultural language, personality, and expressions that shape our everyday conversations, transforming them into greeting cards that people instantly recognize and connect with.

From the Way We Talk to Each Other

Ebony Phonics cards are for anyone who wants to give something that feels authentic. The kind of card that sounds like something you'd actually hear in your family.

Our greeting cards are rooted in the language, humor, and everyday expressions that live in African American culture. The sayings many of us grew up hearing from moms, aunties, uncles, cousins, and friends.

They're made for birthdays, baby showers, weddings, celebrations, and the moments when you just want someone to know you're thinking of them.

Our hope is simple: that when someone opens one of these cards, they recognize the voice behind the words.
